What Effect Do Colors Have on Us?

Warm vs. Cool Colors:

Warm colors like yellow, orange, and red evoke joy, uplift mood, and promote energy and vitality. This effect is especially noticeable when combined with neutral tones like white, black, or gray.

Cool colors, on the other hand, such as gray, blue, and green, are calm and serious but can also seem distant. Warm tones like brown and beige, as well as golden accessories, soften the severity of cool colors.

White

White symbolizes purity and peace – it is no coincidence that it is also the color of wedding dresses. The radiant effect of white becomes especially apparent when paired with colors that really make it shine.

FRANK WALDER styling tip: White can naturally be combined with all colors. However, in summer, it's best paired with light and vibrant colors, while in winter, black and dark earth or berry tones are preferable.

Purple

Purple, or violet, contains both warm red and cool blue tones, giving it an extravagant, mysterious, and confident vibe. It is often associated with royalty and luxury. When paired with cool colors, purple looks elegant; with warm tones, it appears more luxurious.

FRANK WALDER styling tip: In summer, vibrant or light violet and lilac pair well with white. In winter, rich, darker purple is perfect with beige, gray, or black.

Green

Green remains the "color of hope." Its psychological effect varies depending on the shade. Yellowish greens are considered lively and youthful, while bluish greens have a calming and balancing effect.

FRANK WALDER styling tip: In summer, green bottoms can be stylishly paired with solid white tops or patterns in yellow or light brown. In winter, dark green pants look great with muted earth tones. Pastel green tops go well with women's pants and skirts in white, beige, and other pastel shades. Bold green pairs best with dark blue or black.

Red

Red embodies energy and confidence! This color can make you shine but, due to its strong signaling effect, can also be perceived as "too much."

FRANK WALDER styling tip: Less is more – classic combinations with white and black always look very stylish. Red also pairs well with earth tones, gray, cream, or beige. Thanks to the color-blocking trend, red is now considered a strong match with pink, rose, or orange. However, caution and a high fashion sense are advised here!

Yellow

Yellow is as radiant as the sun – it uplifts mood and conveys friendliness, communication, and vitality.

FRANK WALDER styling tip: For darker skin and hair types, you can wear all shades of yellow as you like: sunny yellow, mustard, or ochre; each of these bold colors will make you and your looks shine. For fair skin and hair types, it’s better to opt for cooler shades like pastel yellow or lemon yellow to avoid looking pale. Combinations of yellow and blue tones are always a good choice and create great contrast. Light blues pair wonderfully with bright sunny yellow, while bold royal blue goes well with soft pastel yellow. Yellow also forms a strong contrast with muted colors like black, gray, brown, or dark greens, adding a special touch to looks, especially in winter.

Blue

Blue stands for balance, calm, and serenity. Light blue feels refreshing, while dark blue represents clarity and trust – the higher the gray content, the calmer the shade of blue.

FRANK WALDER styling tip: Blue is a true all-rounder! Bright light blue pairs well with soft lemon yellow in summer, royal blue and black look luxurious, and navy blue with red remains a classic. Blue patterns can be combined with many styles: both summer and winter create maritime looks with white stripes. Light blues go great with delicate pastels like rose, vanilla yellow, lilac, or white in summer. Dark blues like navy or ink elevate your look and work best with bold colors like yellow, orange, or pink.
