How to Care for Your Clothes Properly:
A product label often says more than you'd like to know.
When shopping, we rarely pay attention to the washing instructions on a product, but at the latest before the first wash, we have to deal with the many symbols.
We help you navigate the jungle of care symbols. If you care for your clothes according to these laundry symbols, you'll enjoy them much longer.
1. Washing
Selecting the right washing program is the foundation for the cleanliness and longevity of your textiles. There are various washing programs for different needs, from standard programs to special and environmentally friendly eco-programs.
2. Bleaching
The triangle indicates whether an item may be bleached. Bleaching is a process carried out in an aqueous medium before, during, or after washing to improve the removal of dirt and stains and/or to increase the degree of whiteness. This can be done, for example, with active chlorine (e.g. Javelle water) or chlorine-free products that release active oxygen (found in heavy-duty or universal detergents).
3. Ironing
The dots inside the iron symbol indicate the temperature range: hot, moderate, or do not iron at all. Caution is advised with embossed effects or appliqués. Certain items (e.g., with a bar under the wash symbol) may be ironed but do not necessarily need to be, especially if they are hung up immediately after spinning and shaped, or if they are dried flat.
4. Drying
The square is the symbol for drying. There are two types: tumble drying and natural drying. A circle within a square indicates tumble drying. The dots inside the circle specify the drying process. Symbols with horizontal or vertical lines inside the square (without a circle) indicate natural drying methods. A diagonal line means the item should not be exposed to sunlight.
