Which Color Type Are You?

The Spring Type
Characteristics:
- Hair is often blonde with a slight golden undertone or light to medium brown with a golden sheen
- The skin is fair, yet warm-toned due to the golden undertone and often features light brown to golden freckles. Despite being sensitive to the sun, it tans easily in summer with a golden glow.
- Eye colors are light and clear, such as light blue, green, gray, or light hazel brown.
Flattering colors:
- Warm colors with a golden or yellow undertone to highlight the sunny tones of skin and hair.
- For example: Warm shades of red, orange, and yellow, ochre, warm browns with ochre undertones, pastel spring greens, light coral red
Colors to avoid:
- Very bright, cool, dark, or bold colors overpower the golden shimmer of skin and hair
- For example: Black and white, bold shades of blue
The Summer Type
Characteristics:
- Hair is light, often in cool blonde shades with a silvery sheen, or cool brown tones with ashy undertones
- The skin has a bluish undertone, giving it a cool appearance. In addition to the bluish sheen, a cool olive undertone is also possible. Occasionally, gray-brown freckles appear, but the skin rarely tans and burns easily.
- Eye colors are light and cool, such as blue, green, and gray, as well as blends of these shades.
Flattering colors:
- Contrary to what the warmest season suggests, the summer type suits cool-toned colors – often with a bluish undertone to emphasize the cool look.
- For example: All shades of blue, especially pastel blues, muted rose tones, muted pastel reds and bordeaux with a bluish sheen, light gray or ecru
Colors to avoid:
- Warm colors that flatter autumn types are not ideal for the summer type’s cool look.
- For example: Bright yellow, orange, ochre and fiery red, warm earth tones like beige, brown, cognac, black

The Autumn Type
Characteristics:
- Hair is golden or reddish, often in warm brown tones like chestnut or golden blonde shades.
- Skin has a warm tone, either pale with golden-brown freckles or lightly tanned with a peach or golden beige undertone.
- Eye colors are warm, mainly brown tones from light to dark, but warm shades of green, olive, or blue can also occur.
Flattering colors:
- An autumn walk reveals the colors of the autumn palette. The vibrant autumn foliage tones are ideal for highlighting this warm type:
- For example: Rich reds from dark bordeaux to rust red, earthy tones like soft beige, red-brown or ochre, deep orange, golden yellow, autumnal greens like olive and khaki
Colors to avoid:
- Generally, cool colors should be avoided as they clash with the warm, golden glow of skin and hair.
- For example: Cool blues and blue-tinted shades, black and white, lemon yellow, warm pastels
The Winter Type
Characteristics:
- Hair is invariably dark, ranging from very dark brown to black, and tends to gray quickly.
- Skin is very fair with a bluish undertone and tans little or very slowly. However, the winter type’s complexion can also be dark brown with a cool olive undertone. Freckles are rare.
- Eye colors are usually cool-toned, such as blue, brown, or green.
Flattering colors:
- The coldest season reflects the ideal colors for winter types: cool, clear, and strong. These colors make the winter type shine and feel great:
- For example: All shades of blue like cool sapphire blue, soft pastel blue, or strong navy blue; brilliant white and black; vivid, bright red and pink tones; intense purple; blue-tinted green
Colors to avoid:
- Winter types should embrace their icy look with cool colors and avoid warm hues.
- For example: Brown, orange, yellow, and red with golden undertones; all yellow-tinged shades; warm earth tones; warm green
